Board

Mijn naam is Loes Moerland. Ik woon in Koog aan de Zaan en ben getrouwd met Leendert. Samen zijn wij in t rijke bezit van 5 dochters, 4 schoonzonen en inmiddels 10 kleinkinderen. Begin 2016 kwam ik via Facebook in contact met Emely, want daar had ik gelezen van haar mooie project in Kenia. Zij maakte mij nieuwsgierig naar de Emy-land Diani Cristian school. En zo begon mijn "Kenia-reis"! Eind dat jaar ben ik samen met onze oudste dochter naar Kenia gegaan. We hebben de school bezocht en de vonk sprong meteen over, liefde op het eerste gezicht! Inmiddels ben ik er 8 keer geweest, waarvan de laatste keer met Leendert.
Ruim een jaar geleden werd mij gevraagd om de administratieve afhandeling van de sponsors op me te nemen. Dat doe ik nu met veel liefde en plezier. Toen de vraag dan ook kwam of ik  in het bestuur wilde komen heb ik ja gezegd. Dankbaar dat ik me voor dit mooie project in mag zetten en op deze manier mijn steentje bij mag dragen aan de ontwikkeling van deze kinderen. Ik hoop van harte nog vele keren naar de Emy-landschool te mogen gaan en zo iets van Gods Liefde door te mogen geven! In de wetenschap dat Hij zorgt....elke dag opnieuw mag ik ze ook steeds weer in Goede Handen achter laten.

Mijn naam is Anja Barth. Ik ben 48 jaar oud en woonachtig in Middelharnis. Ik ben getrouwd met Arwin en wij hebben samen 6 kinderen gekregen. In het dagelijks leven ben ik naast de zorg voor ons gezin werkzaam als regiomanager voor ouderenzorgorganisatie Cedrah.

Via Emely word ik al jaren op de hoogte gehouden van het reilen en zeilen van Emyland. Zij vroeg mij dit jaar deel uit te maken van het bestuur. Vanuit het diepe besef dat toegankelijkheid van zorg en christelijk onderwijs het verschil kan maken voor deze kansarme kinderen wil ik me hier graag voor inzetten en zo een steentje bijdragen aan dit bijzondere project! 

My name is Pieter Honkoop and I was added to the board of the Emy-land school in 2018. I am married to Wilma and we live in Barendrecht with our 4 children. In daily life I am a Gastroenterologist in Dordrecht. During my medical training I worked in Africa for several months and since then these people have a special place in my heart. It is good to see that a little bit of our excess can make a big difference in these countries. For children, the impact of education on their further development is enormous. After having been part of the Supervisory Board at Word & Deed for many years, I enjoy contributing to the education of poor children in Kenya, while also experiencing the riches of the Gospel.

The doors of the Emy-Land Diani Christian School open every school day. About 300 children receive education 5 days a week with a full belly. These children are sponsored by Dutch or Belgian sponsors. At Emy-Land we have 6 teachers, 4 masters, a guard, a gardener, a manager, a cleaning lady, a bus driver and a cook. There is a school bus for the children who live far away. We see the progress our children make and are very grateful for that. All because He, God the Father, cares! Our love for this project is great and many around us love it too! We are often amazed and silent.

My name is Richarda de Reiger. I am 32 years old and living in Zeeland. After working as a youth protector for 7 years, I recently became a case manager at the COA (Central body for the accommodation of refugees).

More than 1.5 years ago Emely Geuze asked if I wanted to volunteer for projects in Kenya by occasionally standing in the shop or at markets, so that the Emy-Land Diani Christian school, among other things, could be financed from this. I got to work with a lot of enthusiasm and drive. My curiosity about the school and the children grew, which ultimately resulted in my first visit to Kenya in July 2015.

The hospitality, the good cooperation and especially the gratitude of all those involved in the Emy-Land Diani Christian school were overwhelming and increased my enthusiasm and love for the school. I have a special place in my heart for all of those who dedicate themselves (each in their own way) to the school, the children and also Kenya and this resulted in my life taking a different turn.

A few months ago I was asked if I would like to take on the position of treasurer of the Emy-Land Foundation. With an affirmative "yes" on my part, I am starting this new challenge. In collaboration with the board in Kenya, the teachers and everyone else involved, we hope to be able to make a difference by offering underprivileged children more opportunities for the future, by offering them primary education.

I am very grateful to be part of this wonderful foundation and will dedicate myself with love to continue and expand everything that has been built up. That way, even more children can enjoy education and increase their self-reliance.
